Unity New Update : Starting January 1, 2024, we will implement a new Unity Runtime Fee, which will be determined by the number of game installations. Additionally, in November, we will incorporate cloud-based asset storage, Unity DevOps tools, and AI at runtime into Unity subscription plans at no additional charge.
As many of you are aware, the Unity Engine comprises two significant software components: the Unity Editor and the Unity Runtime. The Unity Runtime encompasses the code responsible for execution on player devices, enabling Made with Unity games to operate seamlessly, even with billions of monthly downloads.
The introduction of the Unity Runtime Fee will be based on each instance of a qualifying game being downloaded by an end user. We have chosen this approach because with each download, the Unity Runtime is also installed. Furthermore, we believe that an initial installation-dependent fee empowers creators to retain the ongoing financial benefits derived from player engagement, as opposed to a revenue-sharing model.
