For those students who want to take up a Ph.D. programme after a four-year undergraduate program, there is amazing and positive news. Jagadesh Kumar, the chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), has announced major changes in academia with NEP policy. Now those students who have completed a four year course at the undergraduate level are eligible to directly apply for a PhD provided they pass the National Eligibility Test (NET). The Chairman of UGC announced that students who are doing four years of undergraduate study without minding the field of study they are doing their bachelor's in can now pursue a PhD in any field. They can achieve this by choosing their NET exam subjects and take the examination in their chosen subjects. They shall emerge and develop themselves through this change.
